As I think of the work Jesus has done in Cuba and the impact it has had on our brothers and sisters there, I am humbled and overjoyed at what is happening.
Since Advance was introduced to Cuba nearly 2 years ago it has been used to mobilise the Cuban church to meet, sharpen each other in their evangelism, and go out and proclaim the gospel.
As I sit down to write about the impact of Advance, I’m honestly amazed and a little humbled with all that’s happened over the last few years. It just goes to show what can happen when ordinary people come up with simple ideas and God decides to breathe on them.

There’s another Christian phrase that’s going around a lot at the moment, ‘LEGO’, meaning to lay down ones ‘logo’ and ‘ego’. I have the joy of leading two Advance Group’s, which not only impacts me greatly personally, but also encourages and demonstrates the power of laying aside our ‘LEGO’ for God’s Kingdom.

One of the great joys of my ministry, Advance, is to see Christians develop a growing relationship with Jesus that will transform their local churches, communities, and many lives with the powerful message of Christ. Advance has impacted and changed me indefinitely, by being in team which holds each other accountable it keeps witnessing at the front of my mind. But it’s not just me, my Advance Group, made up of various different people, have had a similar experience!

When I first joined an Advance Group, I didn’t expect much and halfway through out first session I felt totally out of my depth. However I quickly began to see the change in my heart and whilst I don’t have a ‘special gift’, I realise now that I am an evangelist.
When the pandemic first hit, many church leaders came to the conclusion that now is not a good time to evangelise. However I realised that now is exactly the time. Evangelism isn’t about filling the church building, it’s for Jesus and about his Kingdom.

Advance Groups promote a revitalisation in our evangelism. After many decades as a Christian leader I can become immune to many “new things” and “new movements” that happen in the church. However, I got amazed with the simplicity and clarity of Advance. Its result and impact is an invitation to renew the passion for evangelism in a pure and simple way.
